Big Oil Baby! That’s what runs our world right now. Regardless of the BP disaster in the gulf so many are opposed to oil. Personally I am an environmentalist, but I am also a realist. Petroleum products make nearly every aspect of our modern lives livable. It’s not just the combustible liquid that fuels our vehicle and pollutes our air, it is also part of every product we use at home and work from shampoo to plastic.
A friend of mine started a Facebook group recently dedicated to big oil. In part, the page was created in jest to fuel controversial commentary. But still, there is part of the group that is based in the reality that petroleum is a good and necessary part of our lives. So as I have done on a few occasions in the past, I offered to create a logo for him. This is the logo I chose for today’s post. It was designed a couple weeks ago.
The sans serif type face is Futura bold. The choice was inspired by BP’s use of a lowercase Helvetica type in their logo. The use of yellow was also inspired by the BP, however I created a dirty mustard yellow as opposed to the fresh, clean yellow that BP uses. Part of the fresh and clean feeling that the BP logo conveys is due to the graduation of fresh colors from yellow to green. Here I utilized a brown that resembles the color of raw crude. The focal point is the representation of a drop of liquid which also serves as the o in the logo. That’s it! If you are on Facebook and want to join the group here is the link.
Participate: I am always accepting ideas from readers. Currently I would like to hear ideas on the existing logo or another fictitious or existing brand that you would like to see me design or re-design a logo for. If you like what you see here then help me promote this site! If you are on Facebook then become a fan of the Circadian Creative’s Facebook page. Click the link in this post or the one at the top right of the home page. That way you can see daily updates on Facebook. As always, thank you for your support.
See you all tomorrow.
