Creation #11. Sketchy Tree

More illustration with the Wacom tablet this evening. Before heading into my office to work I spent about 20 minutes or so watering my bonsai collection. I almost put this tree in a bonsai pot instead of in the earth but I have other projects to work on. All in all, I am pleased with this one but I may have to reserve the sketching for weekends when I have a little more time. This one took me about an hour and 30 minutes. See you tomorrow!

creation 11 sketchy treeI am eager to start some themes! During the last daily design challenge I did themes for most of each month. I think that was a lot of fun for everyone. I’ll be thinking about my first theme or series but I would love to hear from you too. What do you recommend? What do you want to see?

Creation #10. Sketchy Fish

Today I was inspired by The Creative Panic, an illustration a day 365 project I’ve been following since last March. There are less than ten days left for that project so I would encourage you to check it out and count down the final ten illustrations!

This evening I dusted off my Wacom tablet and proceeded to make a total mess of things. I will say that working with my new monitor in conjunction with the Wacom is much nicer than in the past when I used it with only my built in laptop screen. regardless I certainly need more practice. 🙂

Creation #9. distant lights

Inspired by another email advert that used an out of focus background containing what appear to be many small points of light. I was intrigued by that image and created today’s design. I may revisit this concept for more realism in the future.

creation 9 distant lightsI am going to continue the week with random post like this one and the ones from the past week. I am considering this time as my warm up period but I am eager to start some themes! Last daily design challenge I did themes for most of each month. I think that was a lot of fun for everyone. Creation #8. I Want To Be Freshly Pressed 2.

Well I was remembering how I did a design toward the end of Circadian Creative 2010-11 called I want to be Freshly Pressed. And about two weeks later I was. I figured I try again and see if it works. 😉

Creation #7. Tile Pattern.

Today I was inspired by a piece of jewelry I saw in an email advert. I used the same tile principle that I saw in the jewelry but changed the colors to primaries. That’s all for today. Hope you like!

Creation #6. Sweet Baby Jesus!

Colleen’s sister was in for a nice visit last week. At some point while we were out and about Colleen, in exasperation over something I can’t recall, exclaimed “sweet baby Jesus!.” To this we all had a good laugh and the phrase became a sort of reoccurring, inside joke for the remainder of the week.

This evening Colleen and I paid a visit to the grocery store to pick up some items and the Express Lane was everything but express. When we finally got to the end of the line and we thought the woman in front of us was about to pay and leave she suddenly had a dispute with the cashier over the price of an item. This was so important to her that she insisted that the cashier go with her to the aisle where the product originated for proof. As you may have guessed, we turned to each other and I exclaimed under my breath, “sweet baby Jesus!” What a laugh we had and when Colleen prepared to text her sister about what I had just said there was a text from her sister responding from a previous message that started with the same expression! More laughs! And, today’s design was born in my head and later recorded with Adobe Illustrator!

Creation #5. Hello Winter!

It’s been quite cold here on the east coast. Today was better than the past couple days but it is clear that Winter is here.

Creation #3. linear pattern with circles 2.

More warm ups. This is a variation on yesterday’s submission. It was tough getting back into the groove of the work week after the relaxing long weekend. Tomorrow I promise to offer something a bit more interesting.
