Creation #62. Versal-tility #16.

As sports fans go I am generally behind on the news and usually oblivious to what is going on with my teams. So as you could have guessed sports is not one of my die hard passions, however I love Steelers’ and WVU Mountaineer football. So during the season I am usually on top of things but at this time of year as we are entrenched in the excitement of basketball or anticipating the warmer days and the boys of summer, I don’t follow sports.

Well, today I learned that Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers has been released. This has no doubt been heart breaking news for all of us who follow, cheer or bleed black and gold. Ward was one of my favorites. You would be watching a game and see him make a great catch and gain a first down and some nice yardage and then get pummeled by a defensive tackle. You would cover your eyes and say “oooooohhh! That had to hurt!” and uncover your eyes hoping to see that he was ok. What you would see is Hines Ward get up on his feet, shake it off and start running back to the huddle for the next play, nearly all in one motion. The icing on the cake was Ward’s big shit eating grin as he was doing it. Hines Ward loves football, every last bruising minute of it. From the glory of making it into the end zone for a touchdown in a Super Bowl, to the humiliation of being knocked on his ass from out of no where. Ward loves football, and Ward loves the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s a shame that the organization is letting him go. It’s just wrong.

So… anyway, I did a new versal for the letter ‘P’. I don’t really have an archetypal image of a ‘P’ but today I want to give a shout out to the ‘burgh by using the Pittsburgh Pirates ‘P’ logo. Here’s to warmer weather and to Hines Ward. We love you and we thank you for being so dedicated to the sport, as well as to the organization that could not reciprocate.
