Well, I have to dedicate this evening’s modern versal to my cat. His name is Q and he has been at my side for most of the designs you’ve seen here. And, to my clientele, he has been by my side for most of my other work. I must confess, he has his own little chair neatly placed next to mine while I work. Each evening if I’ve not collecting myself to my office by 7:00pm he will be nagging me, standing next to the small hallway that leads the way to the office, meowing and pacing.
I used the typeface Raleigh LT Standard Roman. I have had very mixed feelings about Raleigh in the past. I rarely use it but I insist on keeping it in my default collection because when it works out for a given task it is almost always spot on. Tonight’s design is certainly one of those instances. As soon as I previewed the ‘Q’ I knew without hesitation the face I was using.
For the overall color scheme I chose grays (warm and cool) since my feline companion is also gray. The repeating pattern on the right side background is derived from the tail of the character. Perhaps not as obvious is the use of the shape of the character’s counter as the spots on the left side background pattern. That’s it. This is another favorite for me, and I hope it is for you as well.
I love this tribute to Q… both the letter and the cat. He is your faithful companion with the luxurious tail flowing behind him. And those circles sort of resemble the tubes he spends his days lounging in, and his nights racing through.
This is great and I’m sure Q just loves it! Love the combination of cool and warm tones, which makes it appeal to everyone.
