Only 11 more daily designs to go! I have always been inspired by the creative department at Starbucks. They particularly do some great work for promotions around the holidays. Today’s free desktop background is inspired by my mornin’ cup of joe!
You are free to download the desktop backgrounds for personal use. Click on the image in this post to link to the full sized image. Enjoy!
I forgot to post my design yesterday! Aagh! I can’t believe it. This is a follow up to the pocket watch design from Friday. I did do this design yesterday with the intention of publishing it on time so I feel that I have not missed my goal. It will be the revised icon for The Grannie Project based in the Philadelphia area. The Grannie Project is a rescue organization dedicated to helping senior pets.
This illustration was my last one in the Bonsai Empire series. I was not sure what to expect when I started the creation process for this one, and frankly I was getting tired of illustrating bonsai at this point. But, this is by far my favorite of the 15. The style is called Sharimiki, characterized by large areas of deadwood along the trunk of the tree. You can see all 15 illustrations at Bonsai Empire’s website here.
Much better time ion the computer this evening. Turned out to be some corrupted elements in the file I was working on yesterday. Here is another bonsai tree. This style is called raft, or ikadabuki. The style reflects a tree that has fallen but survived by reestablishing its root system and issuing branches upward like several individual trees.
What a horrible evening for my computer. I hoped to post another bonsai illustration this evening but I’m having issues with the file, or my aging system. I’ve been working for the past hour and a half and have accomplished very little. Not sure what’s going on but I’ve had enough for one night.
It’s been a busy weekend for me. Yet I have still not completed all the tasks I had planned to finish. Here is a possible bonsai style image created for Bonsai Empire. I have four more to create for their website. This image represents a Broom, or Hokidachi Style bonsai. This is a redo of one I created over the summer which didn’t turn out quite the way I had wanted.
I did manage to finished two projects over the weekend, a redesign of The Potomac Bonsai Association’s website should be launched in the next day or two. I also completed a book cover design this afternoon. Progress.
