Creation #324.
Today has been one of those days when seemingly insignificant events in my life line up like dots on a line. Until today those dots were cluttered specks in my mind’s eye. Today they seem sequential. Not a straight line but one that still joins point A with point B.
Creation #311. Do Over.
Well, my candidate did not win. Like many other conservatives, I am settling down, accepting the loss and moving on. I would like to genuinely congratulate the president on his victory.
Mr. President, with this design I would like to remind you that you have not lived up to some of your 2008 promises. Yesterday’s victory is testament to one, the promise to unite this great nation. We are pretty much divided 50/50. One half granted you a second term, the other half would like you to view it as a “do over.”

Creation #308.
I forgot to post my design yesterday! Aagh! I can’t believe it. This is a follow up to the pocket watch design from Friday. I did do this design yesterday with the intention of publishing it on time so I feel that I have not missed my goal. It will be the revised icon for The Grannie Project based in the Philadelphia area. The Grannie Project is a rescue organization dedicated to helping senior pets.
Creation #295. A little October research.
If you are following Circadian Creative on Facebook (and I encourage you to do so) I posed the trivia question with yesterday’s post. Why is October the 10th month when “oct…” means eight?
The “Old Roman” or Julian calendar originally contained 10 months. The calendar year began in March (or Martius) which would make October the eighth month. Also think about the names of October’s neighbors, SEPTember is seven, NOVember is nine and DECember is 10. There were problems with the calendar scheme. The duration of the calendar year did not accurately account for the actual length of the days in a single year, which averages to just under 365.25 days. Therefore every few years the calendar would have to be adjusted to reset the days of the year to more accurately coincide with equinoxes and solstices. This problem was corrected even further 1582 with the Gregorian Calendar which added two months January and February, bumping the placement of months up by two. Now October is the tenth month.
I actually just researched this today. I also expected to find the origins of our calendar in the zodiac. I’m sure the origins do reside there but deeper digging is required. I suspect that ancient calendars, prior to the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians used twelve months which coincide with the astrological signs.

Creation #282. Bonsai 26.
Much better time ion the computer this evening. Turned out to be some corrupted elements in the file I was working on yesterday. Here is another bonsai tree. This style is called raft, or ikadabuki. The style reflects a tree that has fallen but survived by reestablishing its root system and issuing branches upward like several individual trees.
Creation #281.
What a horrible evening for my computer. I hoped to post another bonsai illustration this evening but I’m having issues with the file, or my aging system. I’ve been working for the past hour and a half and have accomplished very little. Not sure what’s going on but I’ve had enough for one night.
